API के लिए SemVer

हम semver.org सिमैंटिक्स का पालन करते हैं:

• MAJOR (v1 → v2): breaking changes. Old version continues to work for at least 12 months after new release.
• MINOR: new endpoints, new optional fields. Fully backward compatible.
• PATCH: bug fixes, precision improvements. Visible in response header X-Api-Version: 1.12.3.

क्या नहीं माना जाता breaking change

• एक नए endpoint को जोड़ना
• request body में एक नए optional field को जोड़ना
• response में एक नए field को जोड़ना
• error-संदेश के टेक्स्ट को स्पष्ट करना (codes stable रहते हैं)
• declared ±1” (planets) / ±1’ (houses) के भीतर calculation precision में बदलाव
• तुम्हारे plan में rate limit या credit budget बढ़ाना

इसका मतलब है: तुम्हारा code response में एक नए field को जोड़ने पर break नहीं होना चाहिए. Parse only what you need, ignore the rest.

क्या है breaking change (केवल major releases में)

• एक endpoint को remove करना या rename करना
• response में एक field को remove करना या rename करना
• एक field type में बदलाव (जैसे number → string)
• field semantics में बदलाव (एक ही name का क्या मतलब है)
• error response में code में बदलाव
• validation को strict करना जो पहले valid requests को break कर सकता है

Changelog

सभी changes Changelog में हैं. Minor releases हर 2-4 weeks में, patches जैसी जरूरत हो.

Deprecation policy

जब एक field या endpoint deprecated हो जाता है:

1. Changelog में announce किया जाता है + email notice
2. Response header दिखता है: Deprecation: Sun, 01 Nov 2026 00:00:00 GMT (standard RFC 8594)
3. Deprecated API कम से कम 12 months तक continue to work करता है
4. Removal: केवल next major release में
