Vedic astrology

The most complete Vedic astrology API on the market. Covers classical Vedic (BPHS-Parashara) + Jaimini + Lal Kitab + KP - 354+ endpoints, each cross-checked against PyJHora where possible, with documented divergences.

Every endpoint carries a quality status (GREEN/YELLOW) in docs/AUDIT-TRAIL.md plus an inline AUDIT header above its route. Canonical sources:

  • BPHS (Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra): Santhanam translation
  • Jaimini Sutras
  • Lal Kitab: Pt. Roop Chand Joshi
  • KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati): original reader letters
  • Muhurta Chintamani (16th c.): for electional calculations
  • PyJHora: Python reference for numerical cross-checks

Divergences from PyJHora (where present) are documented in AUDIT-TRAIL - integrators see the exact delta.

Default is Lahiri (Chitra-Paksha, official Indian government). Pass ayanamsa to switch:

  • lahiri (default): Chitra-Paksha
  • raman: B.V. Raman tradition
  • krishnamurti: KP
  • yukteshwar: Sri Yukteshwar
  • fagan-bradley: Fagan/Bradley
  • de-luce: De Luce
  • jn-bhasin: JN Bhasin
  • true-citra: True Chitra Paksha
  • djwhal-khul: Djwhal Khul

Vedic endpoints return sidereal positions by default (zodiac fixed to stars, with ayanamsa applied). Western endpoints (/v1/chart, /v1/synastry, etc.) return tropical (zodiac fixed to equinox). Tropical Vedic is not available: Vedic endpoints compute sidereally and ignore zodiacType in the request body. Details in the FAQ.

Vedic endpoints sit across three tiers: 10 credits (Lal Kitab, KP, most Jaimini), 20 (vargas, panchang elements) and 50 (Parashara doshas, dashas, shadbala, muhurat, full compatibility). PDF reports are 5000.
