Section titled “Categories”Accuracy and sources
Section titled “Accuracy and sources”Every endpoint carries a quality status (GREEN/YELLOW) in docs/AUDIT-TRAIL.md plus an inline AUDIT header above its route. Canonical sources:
- BPHS (Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra): Santhanam translation
- Jaimini Sutras
- Lal Kitab: Pt. Roop Chand Joshi
- KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati): original reader letters
- Muhurta Chintamani (16th c.): for electional calculations
- PyJHora: Python reference for numerical cross-checks
Divergences from PyJHora (where present) are documented in AUDIT-TRAIL - integrators see the exact delta.
Ayanamsa
Section titled “Ayanamsa”Default is Lahiri (Chitra-Paksha, official Indian government). Pass ayanamsa to switch:

Sidereal vs tropical
Section titled “Sidereal vs tropical”Vedic endpoints return sidereal positions by default (zodiac fixed to stars, with ayanamsa applied). Western endpoints (/v1/chart, /v1/synastry, etc.) return tropical (zodiac fixed to equinox). Tropical Vedic is not available: Vedic endpoints compute sidereally and ignore zodiacType in the request body. Details in the FAQ.
Pricing
Section titled “Pricing”Vedic endpoints sit across three tiers: 10 credits (Lal Kitab, KP, most Jaimini), 20 (vargas, panchang elements) and 50 (Parashara doshas, dashas, shadbala, muhurat, full compatibility). PDF reports are 5000.
