Indian numerology
Five endpoints for the numerology people in India actually buy: the Lo Shu grid of a birth date, a name checked against the date and respelled, and the numbers of a phone, a car and a house. Everything is computed by fixed rules, with no model involved, and the same request always gets the same answer.
Endpoints
Section titled “Endpoints”| Endpoint | Credits | What it returns |
|---|---|---|
POST /v1/numerology/lo-shu-grid | 10 | The 3x3 grid from the birth date, present, missing and repeated numbers, six planes, arrows, driver and conductor |
POST /v1/numerology/name-correction | 20 | The name number under both conventions, its fit with driver and conductor, and spellings one change away that land on a favourable number |
POST /v1/numerology/mobile-number | 10 | Total, reduction, Cheiro’s compound reading, fit with driver and conductor, digit pairs |
POST /v1/numerology/vehicle-number | 10 | The same for a number plate; letters only on request |
POST /v1/numerology/house-number | 10 | The same for a house or flat number; a letter suffix counts |
Name correction costs 20 because it rescores every candidate spelling in one call.
Driver and conductor
Section titled “Driver and conductor”The driver (moolank) is the day of birth reduced to one digit: the 15th gives 6. The conductor (bhagyank) is every digit of the date added and reduced: 15 May 1990 gives 1+5+0+5+1+9+9+0 = 30, so 3. Both are returned by every endpoint that takes a date.
Two conventions
Section titled “Two conventions”They agree on the letter values. Both use the Chaldean table as Cheiro printed it in Cheiro’s Book of Numbers (A I J Q Y = 1, B K R = 2, C G L S = 3, D M T = 4, E H N X = 5, U V W = 6, O Z = 7, F P = 8, and no letter takes 9). They differ in two things.
chaldean, as practised in India. All the letters go into one total. Numbers are ruled by Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Rahu, Mercury, Venus, Ketu, Saturn, Mars. Two numbers fit when their planets are natural friends (BPHS ch. 3): friendly both ways, or friendly one way and neutral the other, isfavourable; neutral both ways isneutral; any enmity isunfavourable. BPHS gives no friendship for the nodes, so Rahu is read as Saturn and Ketu as Mars, after the saying “Shanivat Rahu, Kujavat Ketu”.cheiro, as the book does it. Each name is reduced to its single number first and the singles are added into the compound: Lloyd (9) plus George (7) is 16, “the Shattered Citadel”. Two numbers fit when they are “in harmonious vibration”: 1, 2, 4 and 7 together, 3, 6 and 9 together, 5 with every number, 8 with 4.
The single number is the same under both. Only the compound differs, and so does what Cheiro says about it: Lloyd George is 43 under chaldean and 16 under cheiro. Every worked name in the book reproduces (Lloyd George 16, John Smith 17, Baldwin 22, Austen Chamberlain 11, Abraham Lincoln 16).
Cheiro reads the compound numbers from 10 to 52 and stops there. compoundReading carries his symbol, a short keynote, the page and our verdict on what he says (favourable, mixed, neutral, unfavourable); sameAs says when he refers a number to an earlier one (33 reads as 24).
Lo Shu grid
Section titled “Lo Shu grid”curl -X POST https://api.astroway.info/v1/numerology/lo-shu-grid \ -H "X-Api-Key: aw_live_your_key_here" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "date": "1990-05-15" }'const res = await fetch('https://api.astroway.info/v1/numerology/lo-shu-grid', { method: 'POST', headers: { 'X-Api-Key': process.env.ASTROWAY_KEY, 'Content-Type': 'application/json' }, body: JSON.stringify({ date: '1990-05-15' }),});const { data } = await res.json();console.log(data.missing, data.arrows.strength);The square is 4 9 2 / 3 5 7 / 8 1 6, the Lo Shu as Indian practice draws it. The digits of the date go in with the zeros left out, then the driver and the conductor on top. For 15 May 1990 that is 1, 9, 9, 5, 1, 5 plus 6 and 3: present 1, 3, 5, 6, 9, missing 2, 4, 7, 8, and the middle column 9-5-1 is full.
planes are the three rows (mental 4-9-2, emotional 3-5-7, practical 8-1-6) and the three columns (thought 4-3-8, will 9-5-1, action 2-7-6), each full, partial or empty. arrows are the eight lines of the square, the two diagonals included: full lines under strength, empty ones under weakness.
Name correction
Section titled “Name correction”curl -X POST https://api.astroway.info/v1/numerology/name-correction \ -H "X-Api-Key: aw_live_your_key_here" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "name": "Sunil Verma", "date": "1995-11-23", "limit": 3 }'current reads the name under both conventions. convention (default chaldean) picks the one the candidates are judged by, and favourableNumbers lists the single numbers that fit both the driver and the conductor under it.
A spelling is favourable when its number is favourable with the driver and with the conductor, and its compound, if it falls between 10 and 52, is not one Cheiro reads as unfavourable. Candidates are one change away from the name you sent:
- double a letter, never the first of a word and never into a triple (Sunil to Sunnil);
- add a silent E after a final consonant, or an H after T, D, B, G, K, P or J other than the first letter (Amit to Amith);
- drop one of a doubled pair, a final silent E, or a final H after T or D (Anne to Ane).
They come back in that order, then by word and position, each with its total, compound and number. Sunil Verma, born 23 November 1995 (driver 5, conductor 4), totals 36: a 9, which Mars rules, and Mars and Mercury are not friends. Suunil Verma totals 42, a 6, favourable with both.
Mobile, vehicle and house numbers
Section titled “Mobile, vehicle and house numbers”curl -X POST https://api.astroway.info/v1/numerology/mobile-number \ -H "X-Api-Key: aw_live_your_key_here" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "number": "98765 43210", "date": "1990-05-15" }'curl -X POST https://api.astroway.info/v1/numerology/vehicle-number \ -H "X-Api-Key: aw_live_your_key_here" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "number": "MH 12 AB 1234", "date": "1990-05-15" }'curl -X POST https://api.astroway.info/v1/numerology/house-number \ -H "X-Api-Key: aw_live_your_key_here" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "number": "12B", "date": "1990-05-15" }'Every digit counts, so send a phone number without the country code if you follow the usual Indian practice. Zeros add nothing. The letters of a number plate are the state and district code and are left out unless countLetters: true; a house suffix such as the B in 12B counts by its Chaldean value (2) unless countLetters: false. The date is optional: without it compatibility is null.
compatibility gives the fit with the driver and with the conductor under both conventions. compoundReading applies Cheiro’s compound table to the total and is marked compoundBasis: "extension": he wrote it for names and dates, and reading a phone or a plate by it is Indian practice, not his text.
Digit pairs (mobile and vehicle) judge each pair of neighbouring digits by Cheiro’s harmony: 65 harmonious, 98 not, and a pair with a 0 has no rule, because Cheiro has no 0. This is a choice, and the response says so. Indian sites give a meaning to every two-digit pair, but none of them traces it to a printed source and they contradict each other. The Cantonese reading of numbers by sound (4 unlucky, 8 lucky) contradicts Cheiro, who does not hold 4 unfortunate in itself.
